Why sleep in your own super comfy bed when you can squash into your big brother's bed?

Interview with a 4 year old!
To my dear darling Gethin
Happy Happy 4th Birthday!
I have never known a child ascrazy unusual as YOU!
You can easily send me from pulling my hair out one minute to wanting to scoop you up in my arms for a cuddle the next. You certainly broke the mold when you came along!
BUT we all love you more than anything. You're our number one go-to-guy for a cuddle!
So here's the lowdown on the cutest 4 year old around!
What's your favourite food? cucumber
What's your favourite toy? trucks
Who's your best friend? Blaine (Ross' friend)
What are you scared of? ghosts
What's your favourite thing to do? Golf with Daddy, Ross and Grandpa
What is your favorite movie/TV programme? Fireman Sam
What job would you like to have when you grow up? Fireman
I'll leave you with a taste of what bedtime is like Gethin style!
Gethin: "Good-night Mom!"
"I love you Mom!"
"I like you Mom!"
"See you in the morning Mom!"
Mom: "Good night Geth!"
"I love you Geth!"
"I like you Geth!"
"See you in the morning Geth!"
Gethin: "Ok Mom, now you kiss me and then I'll kiss you"
"Ok Mom, you hug me and then I'll hug you!"
Mother dutifully obeys!
Repeat hugging and kissing procedure (Once more if you're lucky, but more often than not it ends up being x5 since this is his all-time favourite stalling tactic).
Dad then has to repeat the whole ritual!
Love you to the moon and back, Geth!

A stunning Autumn day in Perth....
I discovered a new place today - Heathcote Reserve!
Its the most stunning, child friendly place I've seen in awhile - it had everything from the most humongous kids play area, beautiful views, good facilities right down to the cafe which sold the all-essential item - coffee!
And so, without further ado I'd like to present
"Perth is my city & I love it!"

Long Weekend Recharge
Lately, life just feels like one crazy blur! Its like one big vicious circle of wake, work/school, extra-curricula activities, home, dinner, bath, bed (add to this a lot of shouting from one mom with zero patience). I spend all day with other people's children exercising "a lot of patience" so that by the time I get home that "patience" is pretty much used up and you can probably guess for yourselves who bears the brunt of this shortfall of "patience"!
The other day at school, I found myself sitting in the sandpit (I hate sandpits) playing with some of the children in my class and I couldn't remember when the last time was that I had done this with one of my own precious children.
And then I find myself thinking, "This is not how I imagined my happy family life to be...."
BUT before we all lose hope in this crazy world, along comes a looooonnnnnnggggggg weekend where we have no major plans and we get to replenish on that lost patience and do some fun things like......
picnics on the beach,
letting your "little knight in shining armour" ride his horse in the lounge
and having one great big sleepover party in the lounge, with Maccas for breakfast and staying in our pjs till lunchtime!
Now this is what I imagined! So we're not the "perfect parents" but then again, who is? BUT we can be FUN sometimes and in my eyes that's what counts!
Give your kids a hug and tell them that you love them! For those few moments the world will be ok.

Bittersweet moment!
Today heralded a rather important event in the Evans household - all 3 children are officially at "Big School"!
It was so cute to see them all dressed up in their uniforms. Ross and Maddy so protective of their little brother, telling him they would visit him at recess time. Too sweet....
Bitter in the realisation that my baby is no longer a baby but is growing up at a rather alarming rate!
I thought we may have quite a few tears leaving Geth today, but once again it turns out I was wrong! Gethin can be quite a "Mommy's boy" at times but today he was just fine and didn't even bother to look up from the trains he was playing with when we walked out his class.
I've just picked him up and he seems to have had a great day! Long may it last!

I HATE making these!!
Now, I know "hate" is a strong word but I truly do not have a good relationship with these suckers!
Feeling sorry for myself when school starts as I'll have to make 3 packs of them since Gethin starts kindy this year. More, if I truly am wonder woman and make myself and my darling husband lunch as well!
I've tried all the tricks and nothing works quite right for me.
Do them straight after eating dinner. Ummm NO! By the time I've slaved away in the kitchen making dinner and then tidied up after, the last thing I feel like doing is making more food!
Get up extra early and make them. Not gonna happen!
So for now, my poor family will have to make do with my 2 sec.-made-in-a-hurry-slap-on-some-spread-sandwiches!
Maybe one day, when I win the Lottery, they will get gourmet sandwiches made by the live-in Chef!
